Radical political activist. A Socialist based in California, Nelson was a veteran organizer in the West Coast campaigns of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). A supporter of Sanger's crusade, Nelson was one of many radical women who spoke in support of birth control to women's groups around the country. She was also an early contributor to The Birth Control Review, reporting on the progress of the birth control movement in California. Author of numerous articles including "Neo-Malthusianism in America" and "The Control of Child Bearing" (International Socialist Review, 1913 and 1914).
