![]() The purpose of the Model Editions Partnership is to explore ways of creating editions of historical documents which meet the standards scholars traditionally use in preparing printed editions. Equally important is our goal of making these materials more widely available via the Web. Nine of the experimental mini-editions are based on full-text searchable document transcriptions; two are based on document images; and one is based on both images and text.
This page is part of the MEP Sampler, which includes samples from the participating projects which can be browsed or searched, information for documentary editors, and technical information for people who need to look `under the hood'. This project was made possible in part by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and a software grant from the Inso Corporation and Enigma Inc. Initiated at the University of South Carolina in the Department of History in the then College of Liberal Arts, the project was later moved into and supported until 2009 by the Division of Libraries and Information Systems. In 2011 the material was re-hosted on the present site by Black Mesa Technologies LLC. Copyright © 2000 The University of
